Not exactly. A percentage is a raw ratio; a grade is a label assigned by a specific scale. This tool shows both so you can see the full picture.

What grading scales are available?

European (1–10), UK A-Level, UK GCSE 9–1, UK University (First through Fail), and US (A–F). The tool maps your percentage to whichever scale you select.

How is pass/fail determined?

Each scale has a built-in pass threshold — for example 60% for US (A–F) and 40% for UK GCSE. On the European scale you can set a custom threshold.

Can I use decimal points?

How to convert marks to a percentage

The percentage is simply (achieved points ÷ total points) × 100. This calculator does that instantly and adds the corresponding grade on whichever scale you choose — European, UK, or US.

Knowing the exact percentage helps students understand where they stand and helps teachers communicate results clearly across different grading systems.

Quick example

A student scores 27 out of 35. That is 77.1%. On the US scale, that is a C. On the European scale with a 60% threshold, it maps to roughly 7.9 out of 10.
