By the end of this guide you'll connect Google Drive or OneDrive and import files into your GapFiller library.
Who can use cloud storage
Google Drive and OneDrive integration is available on Pro and Lifetime.
On Standard, the Drive / OneDrive tabs show Connect Cloud Storage with an upgrade prompt instead of Connect. Local uploads on File Management still work on every plan — see Upload and organise materials.
Lifetime includes all Pro features, including cloud integrations.
Open the cloud tabs
- Sidebar → Files
- Choose Google Drive or OneDrive
Connect your account
If nothing is linked yet:
- Click Connect Google Drive or Connect OneDrive
- Sign in with Google or Microsoft and allow GapFiller to access your files (read-only style access for browsing and import)
- You'll return to Files with a success message (Google Drive connected / OneDrive connected)
You'll see Connected as your cloud email.
School or organisation accounts: an administrator may need to approve GapFiller before you can connect Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. Personal accounts usually connect without that step.
If you see Your Google Drive connection was revoked (or the OneDrive equivalent), click Reconnect / Reconnect OneDrive.
Import files into GapFiller
Once connected you can bring files into your materials library in two ways:
Pick from the cloud picker
Click Pick from Google Drive or Pick from OneDrive. The provider’s file picker opens — select files and confirm. GapFiller imports them (File imported to GapFiller).
Browse and Import (folders)
On OneDrive (and Drive folder browsing where available), open folders, then click Import on a file. Use breadcrumbs to move around (My Drive / My OneDrive, Shared with me where shown).
Use Refresh if the list looks out of date.
Imported files appear under File Management with a Google Drive or OneDrive source badge. You can filter Source → Google Drive or OneDrive. Preview, attach to lessons and tag them like any other material.
GapFiller keeps a link to the original when possible — if the file was removed from the cloud, you may see it marked Unavailable.
Also pick cloud files when adding materials
When you Add Material on a lesson (or use cloud pickers elsewhere), you may see or pick from cloud storage. Connect Drive or OneDrive on the Files page first if that option says Connect Google Drive or OneDrive in the Files page first.
Disconnect
Click Disconnect / Disconnect OneDrive and confirm. Disconnecting does not delete materials already imported into GapFiller — only stops browsing and new imports. You can also revoke access in your Google or Microsoft account settings.
