How to generate an assessment rubric
Start by choosing a template that fits your task — writing, speaking, essay, or oral presentation — or begin with a blank grid. Each template comes with four research-backed criteria and four performance levels, so you can generate a usable rubric in seconds.
After generating the rubric, customise everything: rename criteria, edit level descriptions, adjust point values, and add or remove rows and columns. When the rubric fits your needs, switch to the grading view to score student work with a single click per criterion.
Quick example
Select the 'Essay Grading' template. It generates a rubric with Thesis & Argument, Use of Evidence, Structure, and Language criteria. Each has four levels from Excellent (4 pts) to Poor (1 pt). Customise the descriptors to match your assignment, then grade each student's essay by clicking the appropriate cell.
Tip: after grading, download the results as CSV to import into your school's gradebook system.

Yes. Choose 'Start blank' and add your own criteria and levels from scratch. You can have up to 30 criteria with up to 10 levels each.
Switch to the Grade tab and click the performance level that matches each criterion. The tool calculates the total score, percentage, and pass/fail outcome automatically.
